Painted Florals on Mercury Glass…A New Twist on an Old Idea
We sell a lot of Mercury Glass Items from our booth at the High Street Emporium in Ebensburg, Pennsyvania…
and through our etsy store.
Perhaps the popularity of Mercury Glass is because it can work with either a vintage inspired décor filled with antiques or a décor with a modern flair. The pieces can also be used as single display pieces, as a large centerpiece in a vignette or in a display with other Mercury Glass pieces. They really give you lots of “bang for the buck”.
Perhaps we sell a lot of Mercury Glass because we have some very unusual pieces.
This large pumpkin shaped vase is currently for sale in our etsy shop and would work great as a centerpiece on a dining table.
This piece is another large, substantial fluted vase and would make a wonderful display piece. Once again this is for sale in our etsy shop.
We are always looking for new ways to treat our items so a trip through the Internet gave me an idea. Our painted florals are very popular and have attracted a nice following from people all over the world. What if we put a few simple florals on some Mercury Glass piece? What the heck. So, I painted this simple design on one side of this vase. You could display this vase with the flower side out….
or you could turn the flower to the back and display it as a normal Mercury Glass piece.
Two for the price of one. This piece is also currently for sale on our etsy shop and is just the beginning for this line of designs. Look for more of this combination in the future.
I’m curious. What do you think of this combination? Inquiring minds want to know. Have a great day and thanks for the visit.
Until next time,
Paul

I would like to see a colored floral on a piece of mercury glass. I liked the white design, but not so much on this glass.

I like the concept of the floral painting on the mercury glass…..but would like to see some color glazes over the white, perhaps? Maybe monochromatic tones in blue? I know your creative mind will come up with more wonderful idea’s to share with us. Thank you Paul, and Kathy!.

Love the mercury glass just as it – You are a wonderfully talented tole painter but I don’t think the two go hand in hand.

I have quite a few mercury glass items and I love them. At first I thought they don’t need anything added. Then I saw what you came up with. It’s subtle and the color really works! Thanks for sharing with Share Your Cup.
