Vintage Frame Becomes Upcycled Chalkboard-Great Christmas Gifts!
I have a difficult time selecting Christmas gifts for my wife, and I think many men fall in to this category. I don’t like to buy Cathy clothes (I don’t even like to buy myself clothes), I have had some success buying jewelry but that can be spotty, and shoes, let’s not even go there. So, I am always looking for something unusual and special. I honestly believe that these chalkboards we recently completed would be perfect as Christmas gifts for that person that is hard to buy for. They are vintage inspired, practical, unusual and really pretty.
Now, there are chalkboards all over the Internet so it was important to us at One Creative Couple to create some upcycled chalkboards that were different and had an artistic flair. As most of our readers know, we are trained artists and both of us specialize in floral painting so it would make sense that we could create some really beautiful and lovely heirloom memo boards. We also have a special fondness for old sheet music, old books and anything French so we decided to include these things in our special and artistic memo boards.
It is amazing how popular these chalkboards are. Perhaps it is the marriage of practicality and art that appeals but I do know that they fly out of here. Recently, we sold two before they were even finished. Here are a few of our chalkboards. They are all for sale on our Etsy store and will be in our booth. We are working on a line of several more so we will write additional posts when those are done. So, if you are looking for an unusual but great Christmas gift, don’t go any further. We hope you enjoy…

Those are really beautiful!!! I am especially partial to the fall color palette framed with the book decoupage.

These are just stunning, you have taken the ordinary chalkboard over the top. Love the floral designs. Beautiful work…if you want to call it that!

I did something similar with a frame I got at a church bazzar. I adore chalkboards. I’d love it if you stopped by my blog and shared this at my new linky party!http://accidentallywonderful.blogspot.com/2012/11/now-co-hosting-inspiration-spotlight.html
