Several years ago, we redecorated our bedroom. We were going for a romantic, calm oasis that we could go to at the end of a busy day and feel some relief from being there. Our inspiration piece for the room was a mirror I painted while taking a furniture painting seminar at the Jansen Art Studio in Elizabethtown, PA. David Jansen is an incredible decorative artist and we have been lucky to become friends and students of his. We use his line of paints and mediums on all of our paintings and furniture. This is the piece he designed and taught in the seminar that inspired the design for our romantic retreat.
This is a close-up of the bottom of the mirror.
From this mirror we went on to painting the bed. (Please don’t mind the fans on the side of the bed. They sure help with the summer heat.)
We are also fortunate to have a fireplace in our bedroom as well as room for a desk and two comfy chairs to enjoy our quality quiet time together.
You probably noticed the art work hanging in our bedroom as well as the painted furniture. These beautiful paintings were done by my husband, Paul, the other half of the Creative Couple. He is a beautiful, accomplished artist and I love displaying his art in our home. It adds so much personal meaning to our decorating. The last picture I will show you features more of my husband’s paintings as well as a beautiful dresser in our room. We have always been drawn to Victorian furniture as it fits the style of our home well and the craftsmanship on it is so beautiful. I particularly love furniture made of walnut as I find the wood so warm and beautiful.
Thanks for joining me on our romantic bedroom tour. Please visit again soon.
